I'd say it's either that your lubricant is ineffective, which means your reamer is now dull. Or your speed is too high, which means your reamer is dull. Or your reamer was dull to begin with.Anyone have any suggestions for removing burr from reaming?
Also what would you suggest for prevention?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you for your response…..the reamer is brand new and seems to be really sharp and the last .005 was cut by hand so speed definitely wasn’t a factor, boelube was used as lubricant.I'd say it's either that your lubricant is ineffective, which means your reamer is now dull. As to what to do with it now? I'd try the shoot once, clean including bronze brush and solvent, repeat 10x minimal approach and see what you have afterwards.
Where's the burr? Where it's kinda crunchy looking on the land on the side towards the top of the picture?
Correct
What brand is the reamer? Looks like possibly the cutting oil is breaking down or this was cut dry?Anyone have any suggestions for removing burr from reaming?

Very good point. Pic worth 1000 words. HahaShouldn’t the bur be on the other side of the land if the reamer was turned clock wise ?
Hal
What was your procedure? Was the chamber roughed in before reaming or did you cut the chamber full length with the reamer?
Another question- Was this barrel new?
Under magnification look at the throat area. Primarily the leade. Looking at the flute face has the edge deteriorated showing a shiny line instead of clean cutting edge? This is a 6ppc….entirely cut with reamer and the barrel is new.
Thanks for your time and input.
Following the lower edge of the land to the left. It appears there is a corner where the land narrows.and a couple of other things besides the burr, where its cutting the groove dia. is pretty nasty also and you need a smaller bushing there is the beginning of galling in front of the leade..
It does look like a dry cut to me, but it also could be stopping, then plungingWhat brand is the reamer? Looks like possibly the cutting oil is breaking down or this was cut dry?
