Reamer for Bullet.com's 284 Win Brass

Has anyone had a chance to shoot their new brass enough to see how the chamber cut with a reamer designed for necking up Lapua 6.5 x 284 brass is working with the new brass? Are there changes you would like?

Re: Reamer for Brass.com's 284 Win Brass

I just got a "straight / standard" .284Win. reamer from Manson with a .313 neck and .230 freebore. I had some 6.5 x 284 brass that I necked up (Lapua Brass) and turned the necks down. I turned the necks down on 300 pieces of "Shiraz / Norma" brass and started using 50 of them for load development. The 5 pieces of necked up Lapua brass are for fouling rounds. ALL slid right into the chamber easily.. I have shot the Norma brass and my original set up on my die had to be backed off. I sized 2 and checked the body length>> I set them back 5 Thousandths>> So I adjusted the die and 2 more cases later, the dies now sets them back right at 1.5 to 2.0 thousandths. So a "normal" reamer with whatever neck / freebore you want works just fine.

Re: Reamer for Brass.com's 284 Win Brass

I was considering trying some of the new Norma 284 brass as well. I currently have 6.5x284 Lapua brass that was 'necked up' as well, but comes out quite a bit shorter. After trimming 100 pieces to uniform length, I'm at 2.155" with the 'necked up' Lapua brass.

Anyone else finding similar results?

What does the base measure .2" up from the case head on a new case?

Right at the base of the case just before the extractor groove, it is 0.4974... After 2 firings, it measures .4980 even..
