You may notice that time has mysteriously gone backwards on us, here in the forum. About 2 hours ago, I discovered a slow building issue with the changeover we did. I tried to catch it, but I was a few minutes late and we ended up with a corrupted table.

I attempted a couple of different things to restore, but in the end, it was simplest to just rollback to this morning.

So, please: no emails to the Forum Boss about missing posts, PM's etc... we realize it's a pain, but $hit happens.

Just to provide further info for you guys...

Today we moved all the files for the Forum to a new physical server box. Faster processors, new hard-drive. Hundreds of files were transferred over, along with databases and tables containing millions of entries.

The swap-over took place this morning, and as far as we could tell everything went like clock-work. Jay brought all the files over from the previous server box, and installed them on the new server box, with minimal time-loss.

However, something didn't quite come over perfectly (or maybe got corrupted this afternoon) ... and this lead to a series of errors that eventually damaged a vital file. We tried to restore that one file, but that's sort of like trying to replace a crankshaft bearing while the motor is running.

We decided to roll back to our Forum files captured right before the server change. This is the SAFE strategy, because if something wasn't perfect with the initial carry-over to the new server, then more problems (and down-time) could occur down the road.

But by going back to the "morning edition" that means that any posts that were made between about 10:30 am Central time and 8:30 pm Central time have been lost.
