re-forming already fireformed brass- is it wise??

I have a heap of Federal .223 that has been fire formed to .223 AI.

I have sold the 223 AI rifle and I'm wondering if I can re-form the already fireformed brass to something like 20 practical or 20 tactical or 204R/223 when my 20 caliber is finally built.

just weighed them.
I have almost 8 lbs of fired brass, it seems a waste not to use them for something.

thanks

It should reform fine, but keep in mind Federal brass is soft so it usually doesn't last very long.

I would sell it off and buy new brass.

You should deprime at least 25 cases and re-prime them to see if you have any loose primer pockets. You may have junk brass after it has been fired twice already.

Federal brass in 223 does not take to hot loads at all. Pockets will get loose in a skinny minute. I had to shoot lighter loads of 27.5g of 748 with the 50's to get my 223 Federal brass to last 5 firings.

The nickel federal seems to last a little longer, the Ni is good for something other than looks.

Good luck!
