RDF Bullets

Have you looked at Q-Store?
Thanks Willow,
Yes, I have checked their website and called, no go.
Same with 215gr 30 cal Hybrids, no stock and no time frame of when they will have them.

I have 4 matches to go, down to 1 and a bit boxes of the 215’s, not enough, so I will have to use the 26 with 142gr ABLR’s, not ideal, but they do the job.

Cheers.
:(

I have tested the 7mm 185gr RDF
Tried everything
And once u get them shooting they shoot
I was testing them with
183 smk
180 lapua
180 eld m
The 185 rdf was the winner it did end up shooting best not max presser and.005 off lands
In my 30in 4 groove ratch rifle 1:8 shillen
In 280ai gets 2880 under 58.5 gr or H1000
I only dropped 3 points on a 15 round strain at 900m /around 980y
At a fclass match
The gave the most consitent small groups at 600 and out in teating
The 180 lapua and 180 eld m seem to shoot tje same under diffemrt charhe wights and seating depths
The 185 rdf showed chanhe in grouo size wirh powder charge and seatung depth but more on the powder charge
Hope this helps
Any questions please ask

Im just waiting for my match barrrl to come in in 6.5 creed moor
When it does going to test
136 lapua
140 rdf
147 eld m
Maybe 140 match burner

I was getting flyers at 600 yds. in F-Open in 6.5 CM with 140 grain RDF's,and then I weight sorted 250 to the closest 0.1 grain and found a 0.9grain spread. I loaded the sorted bullets and only used the bottom two and top one weight for fowling the barrel. Unexplained flyers went away, score went up, and since I have a s**t load of them I plan to continue using them for Mid Range. For Long Range I only use Berger 140 Hybrids or Sierra 142's.

I seen a 3+ moa flyer at 600 yards out of my 6br. I seen an inch or so at 100 yards. I then put the 105 in my .243, measured till I came up with 50 that where good to shoot. This is one of my PRS rifles. Shot it on steel, 100 yard increments out to 1000 yards. Conditions were nearly nonexistent, noticeable flyers at 400, 500, 900. I had good groups at every yardage discounting the flyers. Running a brake and with berms behind these targets I know what I was seeing. Now my 1000 yarder was good also, minus the flyers. 9 rounds total at 1000. First one came in about 8"-9" hot at 12 o'clock from center of the 36"plate of steel, second 7" at the 12 o'clock position, next shot was 1.5+ mils from center and the 4th shot was in the same area as the 3rd that made 2 flyers. I stopped, regrouped....I took 2 tenths of a mil out, and shot a group you could cover with the palm of your hand in the middle of the target. I have bought a bunch of 70, 105, 175, I wouldn't completely trust them for f class or PRS comps even if I sorted them. Not bad for practice if you don't mind your groups being as small has they would have been with a better quality bullet.

There is no possible way to detect which rdf will be a random damn flyer. You can measure, weigh, juenke- just dont matter. This is an example of what happens when an actual person pulls the handle and culls bullets. A machine cant do it

my 6xc will shoot a good Dove hunting pattern with the 105s..I kid u not never seen anything like it...shoots all shelf bullets good but the rdfs...now the 140s shoot well in my 65284

The whole time I was measuring the ogive and length I knew this would confirm what I had already experienced at 100 and 600. But 1.5+ mils at 1000 yards with angelic conditions, that's more than ridiculous.

I guess I have the worst lot of the 140’s couldn’t get them shoot well in a rifle that will shoot everything that I’ve thrown at it from 130’s-150’s. I’m gonna give the 430 of them I have a run in the auto loader

Shot the 105 RDF out of 26", 1 in 8",.104 freebore, best groups were 1/4-1/2 moa at 1000 yards, measured Ogive length weighed in groups, sorted by Ogive in .002 to max .003 groups

I'll have to disagree after having done quite a bit of careful testing. Bergers are the go-to bullet for off-the shelf readily available bullets in this size/weight range.

The RDFs are like many of the trashy women I've known over the years. They are absolutely beautiful. I'm reminded of a weekend in Tijuana; they're cheap but they aren't free.

They're well put together with really sexy looking tips (be sure to enunciate). Often times they perform well, but they simply aren't either faithful or reliable. Just when you need them most, they let you down.

That doesn't mean you can't love them, but you gotta' be willing to deal with the consequences. Take them to a really important event if you dare, but don't be surprised if you end up embarrassed.

Agreed.
I'm not the only one who's had the same experience from what I've seen around. One day, they will give you great groups and you think you have it all down and good to go, the next day you come back with the same setup and it's all over the place. The consistency wasn't there. I chased these things for way too long, because of the price and they just seem great, but eventually I had to walk away. There are way too many other bullets we all know shoot well out of most barrels, save yourself the headache and go with the known quantity.

The 6mm 105 RDF bullets are real pointy @ 1.263 inches, comparable 105 grain Hornady 6mm bullets @ 1.224 inches. The 6.5 130 RDF's measure 1.328. Possibly they are the longest within their weight class. For my casual use both work just fine right out of the box. Might there be some unknown stability issue vs. manufacturing defect?

I ran about 600 of the 140 through my 260AI from 100-1000. They shot small groups, but the aggravating part was the odd flier here and there. Like 6moa up wind out in the 5 ring.

RDF=random damn flier.

Never could get any of them to shoot for except the 70gr RDF's for the 22 caliber, they work decent in my 22-250. No good results with the 308 or the 6BR or my 6.5 Creedmoor. Ended up using the last 2 boxes of my 6mm RDF's for fireforming BRX brass.

I've ran almost 400 of the 105 RDF, in 6br and. 243. Until I really started getting serious I didn't pay attention to the flyers. Then I got serious, the flyers are there, and if your shooting them in competition they could cost you points. I shot one 600 yard f class match with my 6br. 3 relays in the low 190's. I was satisfied with that, but I've experienced flyers at that distance that were 3+moa out.

I really gave them a run in my Dasher.

Yes, the 105 6mm's are pretty, they promise amazing BC's, less wind and therefore tighter groups, higher scores...maybe.

I had some success with them initially and thought I had found the holy grail, but then I started to experience flyers, that broke up good runs. One flyer, no problem, but, several in a 20 shot string that didn't make any sense to the conditions or my ability. The LTO varied too much and seating them consistently was almost as bad a seating SMK's.

Sold them all for a song (glad they are gone), now I shoot only Berger's in competition and should have done that years ago.
