RCBS swage die ?

Does anyone know the right way to set this up in a single stage press to swage primer pockets?

It might be good to check R BS's web site and see if there are directions printed there. Manuals and etc are often on line.
I hesitate to tell how I do it because there may be differences in early and later equipment.

As what is said above. I now ream any that require the crimp to be removed. One thing for sure sort your brass and adjust foe each Brand/lot, Case head/web thickness does vary. Too easy to bend the mandrel/rod when not adjusted for the brass you are swaging.

Depending upon you press make and model, you may want to cut a short length cylinder from copper pipe (because I had it), about the same diameter and put it beneath the cup that comes with the tool.
Sitting up here at the kitchen table, I can't for the life of me remember why now, without going down to my unheated man cave and trying it. Oh God, is this what getting old is like?

A friend of mine has had two of these (he didn't learn the first time) it does what it's supposed to do but with both of these he has to slap the press handle to get it to release from the bottom of the case. If not hard slapping the press handle then it has to be pulled on very hard, and either way the release causes stuff to go flying on his reloading bench. IMHO, I'd do have a previous post said about putting it in a box, kicking it under the bed then go and get a Dillon 600 Super Swage, or RCBS has a model that works similar to the Dillon.

You just made me remember why I use a short cylinder to raise the cap further up. It was to get the retraction into the point of highest stroke leverage in order to get it to release without having to pound on it.

Follow the instructions provided with the die and it works as designed.

As an added measure to make primer seating in crimped pockets easier, I like to chamfer the mouth of the pocket just a little to take off the sharp edge that’s created from the crimp.

It takes a bit of trial and error work, but once adjusted properly, the RCBS primer pocket swager never has to be re-adjusted. Most or maybe all the complaints and adverse comments come from those who haven't taken the time to do it right. I got mine many years ago second hand and don't have the instructions, but I'm sure the instructions provide adequate information. I adjusted mine down to almost the cam over point on my press and it works fine. If you're going to do thousands of cases, there may be faster tools, but they probably don't work any better. Reaming will work, just not as well as swaging.

Thanks for the replies. I did find a video on youtube how to adjust it and will give it a try
