RCBS Summit Single Stage Press Upgrade

I make an upgrade for the RCBS Summit Reloading Press. My upgrade is a single pin that replaces the two bolts and nuts that connect the toggle links to the operating handle.

One Piece SS Upper Pivot Pin for RCBS Summit Press

This one piece upper pivot pin replaces the two 3/8" machine screws on the RCBS Summit press. The pin is machined from type 304 stainless steel and includes two C-clips to retain it.

It appears that RCBS may have initially designed the Summit press with a one piece pin at the top and then changed the design to accommodate very long dies like the 50 BMG (note the machined cut in the handle mount). If you are not loading 50 BMG my one piece SS pivot pin is a great improvement to the RCBS Summit press.

Advantages:
  • Improves connection between press links and operating handle by eliminating play
  • Consistent repeatability when seating bullets
  • Increases rigidity when sizing cases
  • Helps prevent toggle casting failure by eliminating cantilevered link attachment screws
The SS pin and keepers is $21.00 plus $5.00 shipping. Send me a PM if you want a set.

The pin will clear a 4+" tall die.

This is a Redding Competition Seater that is backed out 3/4" to where the top of the die just contacts the pin.

The pin wll clear 4-1/4" on a die with a small (like 3/6") threaded stem. Here is a pic of a Wilson micrometer seater that is backed out until the small threaded stem just contacts the pin.

I purchased one of these from skeeljc and installation was super easy. Hang on the pins from RCBS if you need to. I haven't had any issues so far. Next to the Hornady LNL bushings, it's my favorite upgrade for the summit.

Great product! Very precisely made with a perfect fit, it clears all my target-type micrometer dies. This upgrade part insures equal force transfer on both sides of the handle casting through the toggles to the die ram, reducing the risk of breaking the casting. I’m very pleased with this pivot pin and can recommend it.

UNFORTUNATELY THIS PIN WILL NOT CLEAR THE TOP OF AN RCBS MATCHMASTER SEATING DIE BY ABOUT 1/4" OR SO...NICELY MADE AND FAST SHIPPING...I JUST WISH I HAD INSTALLED THE DIE AND MEASURED BEFORE I BOUGHT IT...NOW I'M GONNA LOSE $11.00 JUST FOR MY STUPIDITY.

What about .338 dies... whidden / Rcbs Micrometer tops
I bought one of these a year or so ago works with my 338 lapua resizing die no issues but it’s not a micrometer top seater. I use an L.e Wilson seater and a arbor press for seating so can’t speak to that. Pin works as it should and I’m glad I bought it!
