RCBS Powder Measure Stand: I don't know what I bought.

I'm a big fan of RCBS equipment & I found a really nice looking measure stand for my Uniflow measure on-line. What I got was a stand where the mount is un-threaded which surprised me. I know I can still use it, I just have to use 2 die rings instead of 1. Was this stand designed for something else? I just don't get it....

The little 7/8-14 nut that came with your uniflow is what holds it on the stand, or a spare lock ring. Use it as a jam nut from underneath.

All of the pm stands I've seen are unthreaded. My Redding, RCBS, Hornady and Sinclair- no threads

That's funny, mixed threaded and unthreaded. I guess it all depends on who they farm the machining work out to

Someone bored it out to remove the threads. Makes it easier to remove/install the measure. Put a hex nut that comes with the measure on top and a knurled die lock ring on the bottom side. You can quickly remove the die lock ring and lift the measure out of the stand. No more spinning the measure.

Mine is unthreaded. I bet they cut costs at some point and stopped threading them.

Mine unthreaded, makes it easy, die ring snugs it right up. Its is as it should be. Threaded works too. Easy peasey.

About 20 or 30 years ago RCBS stopped treading these. Probably as a cost cutting exercise. Other than needing a second lock ring, it is just as usable as the threaded variety.

Why would anyone want to spin the powder measure around & around to unscrew it to dump it? Much easier to just spin the lock ring off and pull it out. Not like it needs precise alignment.
