300 RUM,
The chargemaster is good for what it is, it has a cheap scale and a good dispense system and like the others said this is one of the most talked about topics on any of the forums I belong to, including here. I have one and use it only for dispensing to get me close, it's good for that. Good luck others will disagree with this.

first of all I knew that they would have information on her somewhere in The forum when you entered into the search you get no results

if you have no information to give why give anything at all why waste your time.

Mine tends to throw light. If I want say 33 grains I set it at 33 and usually it ends up 32.8-32.9. Its good for about +/- .1, which is not good enough for long range competition IMO.

I've had one for over 5 years now and love it. I don't see any "drift" or "static problems". I attribute both to the fact that I leave mine plugged in and turned on "forever". Only time I have to turn it back on is when the power goes off and shuts it down. The other step I take to control static is to wipe the plastic surfaces down well with a dryer sheet. First when I set it up and periodically to wipe off the dust and any fingerprints.

Of the "affordable" scale/dispenser combo's the Chargemaster is the best. If you want better then look for a Prometheus. Be prepared to wait a long time for a new one and possibly have to sell a kidney to pay for it.

Rarely does mine deviate from the +/- .1 grain they advertise...but I just use it to get close then use a GemPro for final measurement.

I grounded the frame on mine and the static issue disappeared. I also use the straw trick in the dispenser tube. That helped a lot with the overthrows with stick powder. Wait for it to display the count, and then display the weight again. Then you will see if there is an overthrow.

I wiped it down with the dryer cloth it seem to of throne the first 5 correct and then back to the overcharging

I have two both with different setting one for large drops the other for small. The speed that they run at has much to do with over drop .I find the setting that goes to slow then to trickle is where the problem is .I don't load on carpeted floor. I find tilting it a little to the back helps also.

okay my carpeting is composite flooring which can build static almost as much as carpet so it took the old trick grounding myself to the equipment.I wrapped a piece of copper wire around it and let you go tape to my wrist ground strap and then hung on to my Dillon 650 for a second. I just threw 50 loads 80% of them came out .02 of the target weight 71.98gr as compared on my Gem pro and my AnD. 10% came out .02gr over, and 9% nailed it exactly 1% was actually over By .1gr

Add a Pan Pacific SF-065-P 6.5 mm ID Noise Filter at each end of your cable [you'll need TWO].

Available at FRYS Electronics for $2.99 each: http://www.frys.com/product/343155

It worked for me. Maybe you too.

Outdoorsman,
I have tried one of these and it was to big around to clamp on my chargemaster plug cable, I assume this model is smaller and will work, correct? Also I have a FX - 120i and the cable is a little larger in diameter, do you think these filters will fit my FX-120i without too much pressure on the cable? I appreciate any help with this, I would like to order a few of these and try them.
Thanks,
Dave T

I have not had any issues with mine....my reloading bench has a steel top which is grounded. The Chargemaster I grounded with braided piece of copper (negative battery terminal on some cars) that drags across the steel table top allowing me to freely move the unit to empty it. Probably overkill but problems with static electricity was drilled into me years ago. Then again I do not use plastic funnels nor carpet on the floor.

This thread got me to thinking. I had never tested the accuracy of my CM compared to my FX120i. So I did some testing using 2000MR powder. I found that the CM was between .06 and .08 gns over on charges under ~25gr. On charges over 40gr it was within the accuracy of the FX. Sometimes right on sometimes .02gr light other times .02 heavy. This was an abbreviated test. Only about 20 samples of each weight and I only used weights that I normally throw (20 - 25gr for my 223 and 48.3 - 50gr for my 308)

I also weighed the calibration weights that came with the CM. Together they are supposed to weigh 100g. Mine weigh 99.579g

More testing to come when I get time.
