RCBS Charge Master Dispenser

Any thoughts on this unit? I did see where someone mentioned fluorescent lights affect it. If so, it's not for me, whole basement is fluorescent lighting.

RCBS Chargemaster Dispenser and Scale - 110 Volt

A great way of accurate powder measuring at a reasonable price. I use mine for all my F-class loads. I agree that it would be worth it to change your lights to LED, or use it in a different location.

Florescent lights can mess with any electronic scale.

I have and prefer the Lite version. I run mine on a battery, which took care of all the problems people report with drift and whatnot.

Bright led bulbs will help you see better anyways. Its a good unit, not the best, but gets you in the game. If you wanna buy and be done fx120i scale.

I have had one for a number of years. I haven't used the powder dispensing portion of the unit in ages- though I do use the scale when weighing individually charges dispensed from my Harrell's powder dispenser. Even the scale takes 20 minutes on mine to heat up to the point it throws a proper charge. Mine throws charges 2/10 of a grain lighter when just turned on than it does twenty later. Bottom line, I can throw charges WAY faster using a regular powder dispenser and trickling powder with my fingers - and I don't overcharge - something my unit does - and for which people work around using straws and other things to fix the problem. The newer units might work a lot better - but they would have to be twice as fast and far more accurate before I'd buy another. I do like the scale a lot - I just wait the 20 minutes.

They now come with a multi voltage SMPS wallwart so there is always some risk of EMI interference with these things so feed the cable from it through a circular ferrite core or even the clip on ferrite from an old monitor cable if you can unclip it. The ferrite ring I use is some 1 1/4" with ~3/4" hole so you can pass a few wraps through it. You want a few so try for 4 or more.

I use my CM under a single florescent and don't see any unusual behaviour and the weighing time has me change loading practice to charge and seat one at a time rather than wait for charges when just charging cases. I more like it this way as the risk of double charges is reduced if you get distracted.

Any thoughts on this unit?
Maybe I'm lucky. I have 2 units. Usually only use one, but when I'm loading for my annual prairie dog hunt, I use both.

Until I changed my lights, I had a dual 96" flourescent fixture mounted directly above mine. No issue at all.

I can just turn mine on, calibrate it, and start throwing charges. Never drifts or changes.

My second unit (the newer one by about 4 years), throws charges about 40% faster. I have changed the programming in both to speed them up, they are both programmed exactly alike.

Both just plug in the wall, no plug strips, ferrite filters or anything. Both have worked absolutely flawlessly for as long as I have owned them.

Only forgot to close the dump port ONE time. And it was with a big stick powder.
