RCBS 510

Your thoughts and any tips for these scales.

I just retired my M-5 after many years of use. I bought a 510 years ago and it has been sitting the box but a couple years ago I installed a second press on the bench and started using the 510 and liked it a lot, mostly the rotating tenth selector, to me much nicer than the little metal tab on the M-5. I got a real deal on a new in the box 510 and set it up where the M-5 used to be. Nice to have two scales that operate the same.

A couple weeks ago there was a post on setting the scale on a shelf at eye level. My bench is set up perfect to do that so I tried it WOW, now both are set on a shelf behind the press. Thanks

There are some scale threads on this site that have a lot of useful information about doing some tuning to improve sensitivity, and repeatability, Also, you can use a web cam, your phone, or a tablet to magnify the pointer and scale, and eliminate parallax, so that you can have your scale directly on your bench top, which in my experience is more convenient, particularly if you are trickling a large number of charges at once. I have done all of that. It has been fun, and it has improved the performance of my scales. Whether any of this matters or is of interest, is an individual matter. For a lot of shooters , it may not be.
