Ray-Vin stand, 2 models?

Would love to hear anyone's opinions on the differences between the Ray-Vin "Eclipse" stand vs. I guess the "classic" version.

I'm on the hunt for a spotting scope stand to use for F-class shooting and scoring. Seems like I've seen tons of mentions here about how good the Ray-Vin stands are. Since one of Ray's co-workers is building and selling them (www.hic-tec.com), I'm considering going that route but am unsure about the two versions...

Thanks,
Luke

You want the total eclipse. It's the most versatile and allows you transport it the easiest. You also want that one because of the outrigger. The classic is more basic, and if you shoot a lot of matches trust me you'll regret it. The F class stand is only two legs and will also frustrate you the first time you knock it over. Some people like it but just about anyone I know who's used the two leg version wishes they had the three leg.

Thanks John, for the detailed feedback.
(I actually didn't even realize there were 3 models, including that "f-class" version with only the 2 legs plus outrigger...)
