From our match director:
The weather for this month's Long Range Match was pleasant (by Rattlesnake standards) with temps staying below triple digits both days. Wind was light but but extremely variable - a heinous fishtailing tailwind that tended to change directions in mid-string without bothering to inform the wind flags. All-in-all it was a pretty typical Rattlesnake weekend, ...kinda humbling.
Dan Steinmetz dominated Black Powder Target Rifle, while Bud Solis and Steve Baardsen took unopposed first place honors in Palma Rifle and F-Open classes respectively. In the "Unlimited" category, first time long range shooter Brandon Tinker got the win.
The real story was in F-class Target Rifle where young Ryan McLane, first-time Rattlesnake shooter from Spokane, followed up his Mid-range victory on Friday by winning the Long Range match as well. Only Bill Prue got close enough to challenge, but ultimately had to settle for second this time. The rest of the field could only watch and wonder.
Congratulations to all the winners and especially to Ryan McLane, our July Match Winner.
Our next Long Range match is 19-20 August. See you there.
