Raton Warm-up

The first day of practice went well. Alot of the notables made their presence known. Among the few were, T. Boyer, M. Ratigan, W. Campbell and our locate favorite Steven Perry. Not many words were spoken, these gentlemen know the importance of this shoot. Tomorrow I plan to talk to Steven about my game plan for the nationals. I'll update you folks as time permits. JJ

Hi folks,
Sorry for the delay. It's really busy here and HOT. We have had some rain and downpours at night. There have been about 7 shooting "Cease Fire" commands given for wildlife on the range, deer and antelope. We have seen deer, antelope, elk, road runners and turkeys;this place is GREAT. The loading barn is about 100 yards long and really nice. The benches are about 8' on centers and there are 75 benches.Alot of tuning is taking place as we are at about 6000',but I think I have it dialed to the best of my ability at least. Boy, you should see the Rail Guns, way cool, gotta get me one of those someday! Practice was closed today at 4pm and everyone, well most, put out all kinds of flags and gizmos I've never even seen to help read the wind.
They start off tomorrows at 8am, the 2006 NBRSA Nationals will have begun! The afore mentioned shooters are apt to do well but some other folks will come into play too. I saw Lester Bruno,Bart Sauter, the Euber brothers,Billy Stevens just name a few. The best of the best will be here,so I'm told. Steven Perry seems confident and is not talking much, has his game face on I guess.I did not want to approach him as I am sure he has more important things on his mind than advising rookies. I'll try to list the top ten afters tomarrows 100 yard Unlimited event. Get this, they gotta shoot 8 ten shoot groups. It will be fun to watch em fight the wind. I post at next chance i get. JJ

Keep the narrative coming. And let us know how you are doing. Here's a photo another shooter sent me. Looks like the loading building is getting crowded. Notice those trophies just waiting for somebody next weekend.

Sorry, its late,I'm tired. ? Canning won the Ulm 10 shot 100 followed by T Boyer. Others, not in order) who placed well were, Cambell,Euber,Kroop,DeBacco and I forget the others,I'll write em down tomarrow. Weather was OK up to the 4th relay. After lunch we had some thunder showers and more than a few had rain shots that really blew up the group size. Wind at 10-15mph were the norm. For all the guys that have rifles that shoot 1/4" groups all day long, you should of been here. You woulda WON!!I was doing OK up till the 6th relay and got burned with a rain shot too. Moved down the rankings by 85 places with one rain placed shot. Its part of the game and anyone who has shot much will get to experience this at some time too.Yeeeuck!!! We start tomarrow at 200 in the Unlimited. I'll try to post better results then. JJ
