RAS tuner/brake on a LG Dasher worthwhile?

Anyone use a RAS tuner/brake on their LG Dasher? I am interested in trying one, but heasitant to add another tuning variable.

Are they hard to tune? Do they need constant attention? Guys that use them...would you put one on all your barrels? Once tuned, will it hold?

Let say one was shooting a double match and was tuned in the AM...come PM and the temp is up and the rifle is not in tune....how would one bring back in tune? Is something like this common?

Hi I have them on all my guns their not hard to tune just use the instructions. I have placed second in both of our 1000yd gong matches and won many of our local matches. I have done over 5000 rounds of testing .I feel if you don't have one your going to get beat by one.Have you read about them on Bostromgunsmith if not give Eric a call 941 724 1299 Good Shooting Larry

Great question? I have 2, on my 1st time using it worked great,,,,, for a while 6 months, now if you change a component plan on starting all over with your tune. I know people who use them and like them and also, as well as myself are going away from it. If you have a good tuned rig its not needed. I recently had a barrel that i could not tune with or without it, since then i see no benifit in trying to tune a less than acceptable barrel.
My opinion is also agreed on by several close shooters who also used them.
Goodluck!!

I have one on my new Dasher. The brake really cuts back the recoil to the point where I don't have to move my joystick rest between shots. After each shot, the gun still recoils back slightly, but not bad enough to move the joystick rest. I haven't played with the tuner on it much yet but have played with tuners on my other guns. I found that if I shoot on a cool morning with the tuner on its cold condition setting, I move the tuner IN 1/4 turn when it heats up a bit later in the day to keep its tune.

I had one. The brake works well. The tuner does change the shape and size of the group. Will it take a gun tuned to perfection and make it shoot smaller? I am not sure, but not in my case. As far as tuning though out the day? I didnt do that I just set it and left it alone. I went back to Harrel's brakes. Just simpler for me.

What are the temperature swings like where you are? Are you using a temperature sensitive powder like R15? If so, tweaking the tuner will be helpfull. Where I do 1000yd BR, it is often cool in the first relay and warms up through the day, meaning the gun won't be perfectly in tune at all times. During the sighter period you can adjust your tuner as needed.

I find I can tune the load one day and have it change the next day. With a small movement I have it shooting again. I know everyone has had that problem. Good Shooting Larry

ohara1 hit it on the head. Barrels die more from improper cleaning than shooting. I have retired one 6BRX barrel. I got it with 400 rounds on it. I had to have the chamber end cut off and redone to fit my action. It was chambered to 6BR for 1000 rounds, then opened to 6BRX for 2000 rds, for a total of 3400 round. I shot the IBS 600 yds LG record 0.749" in 2007' with over 2000 rds on the barrel. It all depends on how barrels are shot and cleaned. If you shoot them hot they want last as long.
