RAR Predator Barrel on RAR Vortex/ Standard

I have a brand new never fired model 16934 RAR Vortex in 308 WIN / 22" barrel / right-handed. This is the Standard 6903 with scope. I really want a 22" barrel with threaded muzzle like on the Predator.

The Predator model 6974 is 308 WIN / 18" barrel / right-handed. However, the Predator model 26918 is WIN 308 / 22" barrel / left-handed. Will the model 26918 barrel fit my 16934 receiver and clear the gun stock?

I called Ruger but they didn't want to talk about it. I am thinking this would probably work and should be a simple matter of having a dealer order one for me. Aftermarket barrels are too pricey. I think the chances of finding a factory take off are pretty slim. Thanks.

It will clear the stock. I have a predator model and bought a boyds stock ment for the plain american model. I contacted Boyd's before I made the purchase to ask them because of the barrel thickness difference and they said it would fit with no problem. I don't know why they had that model stock only for the basic American and not the Predator if it works so I would think that the factory stock would be just fine

The original barrel has a narrower taper down to the muzzle. There is enough metal for a 1/2-28 thread. Suppressors for a 308 are typically 5/8-24. The Predator barrel is thicker/heavier & 5/8-24. It's about 1/2 a pound heavier than the standard.

You could also look at some of the prefit barrels made for them that are out. Comes with a new style barrel nut, head space and go. Close to same price as buying another donor rifle
