Range report (video), Rem 700 accuracy after bedding and reloading

For those interested in seeing the results of stress free bedding in conjunction with handloads, here's a video you might enjoy:

Range report: Handloading for the .223 Remington - YouTube

I intend to do more testing with the compressed load at longer ranges comparing the accuracy of crimped vs non crimped bullets as the crimped bullets showed great accuracy given the windier conditions later in the day.
If the crimped bullets show as good accuracy at say 300yds, I'm thinking I'll lean towards them. My theory is that crimped bullets may have more consistent neck tension and may negate the effects of 'cold weld' and bullets behaving differently a few weeks after reloading vs the night before. Thoughts?

Here's the original video showing the process I used to bed the action:

Phil,

I enjoyed watching your video.

You mentioned using the same target over a number of distances and entering the values into a programme for creating a drop chart. Which programme were you talking about?

Kind regards
Gareth

Hi Gareth, what I do is enter known data into a ballistics program such as bullet weight, BC, sight above bore, zero range, temp, alt, humidity etc, then I input a random velocity near to where I estimate it to be, I then keep tweaking the velocity until the ballistics drop chart matches real world drop data collected from the range, the program will fill in the blanks so to speak. This will give you pretty accurate data out to reasonable ranges before you'll need to get into more advanced programs that will allow you to enter multiple B.C.'s for different velocities with a given bullet - you pay for those programs! I use G7 and JBM, I find them to be great and they're my favorite price ;)

Thanks for your very informative reply Phil.

I think I was hoping that there was a programme out there that took the various drops, produced a chart from that and avoided any tweaking ;)

How's the J-B weld holding up. Have you used it for bedding any larger caliber, heavier recoil, rifles than .223?

Save bullets/powder/primers & eliminate the guess work by shooting thru a chronograph.
Other ambient data is pertinent.
Velocity is a factor-not king-but a factor.
