most of my fox shooting is done at night and often we get a fox just sit and look at us from a long distance but i find it hard to judge range past 200 yards at night when spotlighting.would a range finder work at night.

Hi
Yes the range finder will work at night.I find the leica or swarovski very good range finders and the glass is nice and clear.

My old Bushnell 1000 seems to work lots better on a dull dreary day than in the sunlight, and I'll assume most of them will be like that.

Treated myself to a Swarovski last year after a decade of using a Bushnell. Quite an improvement! The Swarovski has excellent optics, and can be used as an 8x monocular/scope pretty well in low light conditions.
