Range finders that actually work??

Have the first 2, and sold the last two.
The last two are still good LRF's.

a friend is a surveyor and strongly suggested the leica 1600 as he compared it's accuracy to some of his surveying tools. he also showed me something i did not appreciate...where does the rangefinder's screen read the target? i had a bushnell and leupold and had a goodly number of misses not understanding that the aimpoint of the finder's screen may not be the point read by the device's innards. he showed me how to find the actual reading point on the screen...point the rangefinder over a powerline at least 100 yds away, activate the unit and slowly bring it down to the power line. the leica reads exactly at the central square/rectangle. the bushnell was halfway to the bottom of the screen! the leupold was off just a little,,,enough to miss long range. the leica is costly but mine has ranged a house at one mile...no Catshooter, i did not shoot the house, but my 8-32 sightron was clear enough to dot a human sized target.

Yes you did, and now the NSA has you in their files, and they are coming to getcha!

That is a neat test - but it should be done with the RangeFinder both normally, and turned sideways - cuz the beam might be off center by, up-and-down, or left-right.

They are dropping the plrf 10 and 15 too, which basically makes all the rest out of reach for normal people.

This is true. If you want/need a Vectronix for under $5k, order now as there are still some PLRF10 and 15 models available. The Terrapin is already unobtanium.

I bought my G7 through the long range hunting gear shop . Euro optics did sell both brands .
