In spite of 15 mph winds today, had a pretty good day with 6mm rem at the range. I may have found the powder it likes to shoot. It seems to have an affinity for RL-17 and berger bullets.

Writen on targets but hard to read my chicken scratch, 75 Hornady vmax and 80 gr berger varmint. 100 ydsWhat weight bulletts and at what range.
I have a 700 Remington BDL in 6mm Remington. It's one of the finest field rifles I've ever shot. If a chuck gives me 5 seconds to aquire that sucker's mine out to 400 yards. Give me 10 more seconds and 600 yards it's bye, bye chuck.
You're going to love your 6mm!
My tablet couldn't see it.Writen on targets but hard to read my chicken scratch, 75 Hornady vmax and 80 gr berger varmint. 100 yds
How was the 80 FMJ on coyotes? Many runners? I have bought some sierra 90 FMJ but haven't had the chance to try them out.My tablet couldn't see it.
I've had mine for 35 years on second barrel, 1 in 10 twist at 26". It was set up for varmints and short range deer.
I use the 75 grain VMAX for varmints. Velocity is 3,900 FPS accuracy is 1 1/16" at 300 yards. I've used older 80 grain Hornady FMJ for coyotes and 100 grain Hornady for deer. On anything bigger then a chuck and within 400 yards it's one shot one kill, varmints run about 85% one shot one kill out to 600. I use it on windy days and longer ranges when my 223 is out of it's depth.
StoshIt's a trued Rem action with a 9tw Krieger Barrel 26" Mcmillan stock. It has a long throat and has been a little contrary, Tried RL19,VVN 560, superformance, with 87vmax,80 berger varmint, 75vmax,70 sierra BK with no really good groups. So glad to get these with the wind today! Anybody had any ecperience with 80gr berger varment bullets on Groundhogs?
My coyote shooting has been a 1 time invitation to an infested farm years ago. I did none of the work just some hiking and the longer range shooting. How was the 80 FMJ on coyotes? Many runners? I have bought some sierra 90 FMJ but haven't had the chance to try them out.
Want to try 87vmax with RL17 will keep you posted! ThanksNice shooting, stash.
I picked up a 6mmAI last year and tried RL17, because I had some, and put a 87 Vmax on top.
I've not done a lot on paper with it but there is a KYL target at 545 yards at the range up here with 8,6,5,4 and 3" targets. The wind behaved and I was able to clear the target on a sunny afternoon last fall.
Shot a 6mm Rem for 40 years. 4350 and 4831 are popular powders. In spite of 15 mph winds today, had a pretty good day with 6mm rem at the range. I may have found the powder it likes to shoot. It seems to have an affinity for RL-17 and berger bullets.
Sounds good. I am running a 1:12 twist, fyi.Want to try 87vmax with RL17 will keep you posted! Thanks
I shot a 6mm Rem for about 50 years (1960-2009) two barrels. Then put a 6BR barrel on. As a 6mm Rem I don't think it shot much better than 3/4". No wind flags I learned a lot since then. I shot a lot of Sierra 85 gr HPBT with 4350 or 4831 powder. Killed a lot of GH with it.My tablet couldn't see it.
