Ramshot Magnum

I tried a little of it once and the results were not encouraging because the stuff is not compressable. It packs like concrete and I couldn't get enough into the case to do what I wanted. I think I might have been trying it in a 284 Shehane with 180 VLDs. Whatever it was in, QuickLoad listed it as the max velocity powder at max pressure but the load needed to be compressed and this stuff wouldn't give once the base of the boattail touched the powder. Might be worth a try if you can get the results you want with something like 90-95% fill. I'd be interested in hearing what you find.

Ramshot Magnum works excellent in a 6-284. My past load was 58 grains behind a 105 Berger VLD with Lapua brass and a Fed 215. I guy might want to start at 56 grains to be on the safe side but it shoots well and burns clean. Hope this Helps

I found my notes from the test I mentioned in my previuos post. I was shooting a series of ladder tests my 284 Shehane using Berger 180VLD bullets and CCI BR-2 primers. I seat them out so the boat tail junction with the bullet shank is above the donut area at the base of the neck. I had to stop loading at 60.8 grains because I couldn't get the bullets to the desired seating depth. I had expected to get another grain into the case. These were Lapua 6.5X284 cases expanded to 0.284 with a .310 loaded neck. The cases weighed right at 194 grains. The ES for the last three shots in the ladder was 9 fps. The vertical was not great but I attribute that to the velocity being way out of the node. You might have better results with the smaller, lighter bullet. I did much better with RL-22, Norma MRP, and IMR7828SSC.
