Rail Gun Shoots

I have been a 22 plinker but saw my 1st rail gun and was immediately taken by the idea. I am now getting things together to get my action, barrel, trigger using a 6mm br of a 6mmppc, w/ the help form a rail gun shooter in Seattle, who I met on one of the forums . As I am located in south N.Y. about 2 hrs north of NYC I would like to know where I could see a rail gun shoot so that I could see in detail what they look like and see in detail how they are build .There are many shoots in Northeasters PA but how doI know if they are rail guns or not. Also what are the rules that governs NRA rail guns.
Thanks Vincent

Vincent, when shooters speak of Rail Guns and Competition, I beleive that there are only 2 venues that actually allow them, that being the NBRSA and IBS, specifically in what is known as The Unlimited Class.
If you are going to take the time and spend the money to aquire a Rail Gun, I would suggest that you step right into a 6PPC. As good as the 6mmBR is, when it is all said and done, it will not hang with a 6PPC in the Competitive Arena. Mind you, I base this on my own experiece in Unlimited Shooting and Registered match Competition.
A Rail Gun exibits the "Untimate in Rifle Accuracy" and precision, to take fulladvantage of this, you need a chambering that will equal the potential of the platform.
Since I live in Texas, I know very little about NY. I am sure some East Coast Shooters will chime in on this and help you in that area.

I will agree fully with Jackie. If you will go to www.benchrest.com and click on either of the logos for the IBS or, the NBRSA and then follow their perspective menus to the group match schedules you will find the matches that contest a "railgun", Heavybench or Unlimited class. These rifles are only used in group matches and usually only in the national championships. This past summer however, the shooters at Union County, PA had a Heavybench match. If you are reading the schedule and see "Unl." or "HB" you've found your answer.

The Eastern Regionals are at Fairchance Pa. this w/e....sept. 1-2-3....the unlimited portion of the event is on Mon. the 3rd....the first two days are LV and HV....this is a typical regional event...most regionals and always the Nationals, the first two days at the nationals)have unlimited events...Roger
