R700 ADL mag feed issue -- Fixes?

Rem 700 ADL LA
If mag stacked more than 2 deep, bolt "can" fail to grab and feed a round.
I bought a new AM spring and follower and no change.
Has this been discussed here before? Search term???

No clip.
No DBM.
No hinged floor plate.
Not single shot. Debatable lol.

PTG makes a bottom metal for the 700 (in .223) that allows the use of AR-15 mags. It requires milling the receiver a bit, and the stock mag well area has to be opened slightly, also. I bought one several years ago and have never implemented the plan to use it, so no real-world experience with it.

Original caliber yes.

Two things. Push everything forward. The rear of the follower may be dragging. The other thing is alter the spring angle to apply more pressure on the rear. I do it either with a vise or set the spring on a hard surface and tap on the joint with a hammer.

I took it apart.

The spring was out of place to the follower, spring too far rearward.
Not sure why.

Follower does not fit Spring tight like the OEM. And is machined aluminum, so no pinching tin tabs like OEM.

You can make a litte stuffer to keep the spring forward. Some early ADL's used a block at the back.of the mag box.

I thought of a couple ways but not blocked. That would need clearance for filled mag.
That chincy oem tin mag box dose not impress.

I could call the parts maker.

I put it back together and will see if it behaves.

If recoil moves the spring something will need done.

Couldn't have been my faulty install lol.

I've tack welded a sheet metal bottom on several ADL boxes. Makes it easy to put a stop for the spring at the rear.

You can also make a block out of aluminum, plastic, or some material of the correct dimensions and JB Weld to one side or the other of the rear of the box to fill the rear space and move everything forward. + 1 on adjusting rear pressure on the follower leaf spring.
