R15 for 120 Nosler Ballistic Tip

Just put together a new Silhouette Rifle in 7-08. Have a match on Sunday.

The only powder I have to work with is R15. I would like to put a Nosler BT 120 on top of R15 and get 2750-2800 out of it. Somewhere around ~2.8 OAL. A nice mild load.

Can someone suggest a good place to start on this.....

I used to use a 7-08 for hunting all the time. I had a GREAT load at 40.0grs. of RL-15 with a 150gr. Swift Scirocco. My GUESS would be about 42.0-43.0grs ought to be mild and accurate... However, there are more than a few folks here who have QuickLoad and they will be a bit more precise than my guess.. Can anyone help him?

Do you have a reloading manual such as the sierra or hornady.I got a great load out of the sierra manual for that weight.

I have one manual and it shows only the max load velocity at 45.5 for 3070. Hoping someone has a known load close to what I am after.

I'm shooting 45.3gr of RL15 for a velocity of about 3025fps out of a 22" 700 Mtn Rifle. Accuracy is very good. My rifle also shot lower charges of RL15 well.

44.5 gr of RE 19 with 120gr Noslers works great for mine. For whatever reason I've noticed Noslers shoot best about .050" off the lands in several of my rifles & this one is .050" off as well.
