Quick Question

long40shot

Gold $$ Contributor
Hey guys,

I don't shoot any long range competitions, but I like to mess with it from time to time. Just wondering if a 22-250 has any accuracy in it at 1000yds?

Thanks,

Matt

Mat,
Thanks for posting and welcome to 6br.com.
I have two friends that have shot the 22-250 at 1K both with great success from time to time. They are shooting heavy bullets in I think in 7 twist barrels. Most factory barrels are designed to shoot 40 to 55 gr. bullets. You need the heavy high bc bullet.
In F-Class people shoot the .223 at 1K with the right twist.

The 22-250 certainly has the horse power to get there, perhaps a little too much. In a prone match you,1000 X 3)you are going to shoot at least 70 shots and you do not have time to clean between relays. You are pushing an awful lot of powder down a small hole. My 22-250's are good for about 50 shots in a dog town without accuracy falling off.

Each gun is different, by all means, don't let not having the same caliber everyone else is shooting keep you from competing. Give your gun a try at 1K and let us know how it shoots.
