I shot a coyote at this same area the night before when I saw a pair as I was driving the 2 track in.
Got one of them after waiting till they went into a drainage then humped it down wind and hit lucky bird on the FP, they came in quick, only 1 left.
Came back Sunday eve at 8pm, walked into the drainages 1/3 mile south, set up where it opened up to a 1/2 mile wide & 3 mile long cattle patures/drainage with a creek & old homestead. The woman rancher showed me the area last week and said this is a spot where she consistently sees 4-5 coyotes and they ignore her.
Well 2 removed so far before darkness in that area.
Saw coyote coming in at about 13 min, just that point of giving up with the day rig due to dark falling fast. Was able to see it from its blond coat at 118 yds below me trying to downwind me. Quick bark and thwaaaap, down it drops. About 8 min later it was to dark to see that far with the day rig.
Savage 6x45, 55g varmageddon, no exit hole.
Had to use the top pole this time as it was bigger the the other 3 from earlier days.
