Quick load data

I have a friend on here who pulled up some Quick Load Data for my .223 Remington using my 69gr HPBT Prvi Partizan Match Bullet and my 75gr HPBT Prvi Partizan Match Bullet...and among those powders listed was IMR 4350 and H-414.. so in the world of heavy bullets in .223 they are really deep seated...so I took it upon myself to massage the magazine and create more space and I re-worked the feed ramp, and re-worked the spot on the chamber lip where the tip of the bullet sometime hanges up on, I polished that real good..so I have a lot of bullet seating depth now..ok I looked at all of the high percentage fill rates that gave fairly good velocity and medium psi pressure That brought me to IMR-4350 and H-414.According to Quick Load IMR 4350 is at a loading density of 107% and H414 is at 107%.. with psi ratings around 43,960 psi so its a easy boot to the bullet...so I loaded up 25 rounds of 69gr and 25 rounds of 75gr with IMR 4350 and went to the range..I was very happy with what I got in return. Right out of the gate I was shooting 5 round groups just under 1" with the 75gr pill.. The 69gr pill was much better yet at an honest 5 round 3/4 group all @ 100yards
Now according to quick load the velocity was 2625fps estimated and I was .8gr over that load

Not sure if you are sharing or asking a question? Did your friend adjust the water capacity for your fired cases? If not, I find the default QL water capacities to be quite conservative (low) versus what I actually measure.

sorry I was asking a question about low pressure loads and accuracy potential.. guess I should have made that better known .... and I was asking if anybody else used Quick Load Data to determine powders that can work other than the ones that are in the top 10 powders and Yes I was sharing data too cause I was so happy with my efforts and the results that I got.!! as for adjusted capacities,, no ran em just as they came off of the program and I did find that it was off by .8gr or better. also I keep him anonymous so if the moderator or administrator wanted to ding me he couldn't get in trouble by helping me. The other questions I posed was massaging the magazine to admit the use of a longer COAL, and had some else done something like this? I actually gained a full 1/2 inch of room to seat bullets in my re-worked magazine, I also had to re-polish the feedramp and polish the mouth of the chamber to faciltate the point of the bullet to enter the chamber.

Yours probably looks a lot better than mine. I stopped with 5 rounds due to not wanting to remove the crimp for strength reasons. I have loaded out to 2.370" and didn't have to do anything to feed ramps (M4). I was loading Sierra 69 gr. HPBT.

0.500"?? I would have to cut out the magwell.

yeah something like that! I took my dental tool steel bits and where the case head rides against the plastic shim,, thats where I trimmed it back almost a whole 1/2 inch... between with what the magazine started with and what I finished with!! I will try to post a picture but I use a flip phone.....

There is nothing wrong with using powders that are slightly too slow for the application.

One issue arises, Besides not getting top velocities the powder might burn dirty at lower pressures.

Other issue I can think of is with semi-autos, the bolt timing might be off or not have enough umph to cycle properly.

But if you're satisfied and all is working for you, then that's all that really matters.

What rifle were you using ?

Have you tried magnum primers with those loads ?

I used IMR 4350 In my .223 Remington using 75gr hpbt ,,,@ 25.5gr because of the shallower seating depth it barely crunched the powder,, and my accuracy for that projectile was the best hands down.. so i am gonna try the H-414 load data and see how that compared and that shared the same 107% load density as IMR-4350,,, but according to QL was a little faster.... I just happened to purchase some magnum primers so I will give them a try I only use bolt guns nothing against semis I burn up enough money in my bolt gun cant imagine what a semi would cost

For sure use the magnum primers with h414.
I've tested different primers with w748 and the magnum primers along with WLR came out on top, accuracy wise. Cci200 & br2 didn't impress, and 210m were ok but not the best.

this picture shows almost an even 1/2 inch of length gain just from massaging the plastic shim that the head of the cartridge rests on.. it is a little finicky bout how you stack your rounds but it will hold 4 and the fifth is in the chamber
