Questions regarding loading to mag length

In my haste to find the perfect load for a newer rifle I plan on long range shooting with, I made a rookie mistake and designed/tested loads based on distance from the lands and not magazine ID. When developing loads for a cartridge that is the same length as your action (SA cartridge in a SA action) is there a specific method that folks follow? I'm assuming that there is some rule of thumb for difference between mag ID and max coal, increments of COAL or ogive to test...or am I making this too complicated and just load to the max COAL that will work in the mag and instead work with different bullet/powder/primer combo's to increase accuracy? Thanks in advance.

Rifle is a Rem700 LSS, 243 win, SGK HPBT 85 gr, RP brass, BR2 primers, and several powders (working on H414 right now)

Depends on whether you plan to use the rifle as a repeater or a single shot. The coal of the round is dictated by the mag length if you want to use it as a repeater. As a single shot, you can load to any length that safely shoots in your rifle.

Load as long as you can and have them still feed reliably. Then try different bullets, powder and charge weights to get the best accuracy.

I have all my notes packed as I am moving or I could tell you how much mag clearance I use and still get acceptable feeding. I think about .025" maybe?
