Questions about a rimfire build?

I have just recently gotten into reloading and shooting F-class and I have been hunting for years but all of those rifles are really getting expensive to shoot! and lets face it I need the practice. I would like to know if I could build a tack driving rim fire out of what I already got? I have a Marlin model 25 MN which is a clip feed bolt action in 22mag. I was wondering if I could find a good target barrel for this or have one made in 22LR and have it put on by my gunsmith, The action only measures .990 inch so I don't know if it is possible? So if you have any idea or suggestions they would be greatly appreciated!

I don't believe the 25m would work out. You would be better off finding a Mossberg Model 44 or other heavy barrel target gun. I see 44's selling for under $200.00 quite often. I won quite a few small bore compititions w/ one in my youth.

The price of rimfire tack driving ammo might be higher than you think. Check out the cost of good rimfire ammo first. I believe you will find it is $6 a box and up. In any case you need to consider ammo cost and whether you will save much using a rimfire for practice.
