Question: Your 22-250 OAL?

Hi Guys,
I am looking for multiple responses to the following:
What is your OAL (from cartridge base to land bearing point) on your 22-250 Rem when the bullet is seated to just touch the lands.

I am NOT interested in OAL's to bullet tip, or how long your cartrige is when it shoots best.

I have a custom chambered 22-250 and think my OAL is awfully short, so need some comparisons. I measured my OAL using a sinclair tool, and when I try to seat 55 grain Vmax, I can't get it "short enough" using a Redding Comp die. Want to make sure I am "in the ballpark" with my measurements.

I measure mine to the tip -- so I can not help on the land length but i can tell you the Hornady's i shoot are rougly .030 shorter OAL than the Sierras and Nolsers--due to the sharp sholder.

The first dimension is the OAL and the second is the Sinclair comparator measurement. All are just touching.

Measurement taken from a Savage Predator using Sierra 55gr Blitz King bullets. OAL base to tip 3.102", OAL to Ogive is 2.098 which is .005 off the lands. So total OAL to lands is 2.103"

i measure chamber to lands contact, then adjust oal to jump .020, with the bullets in use- as a starter.

any one elses measurements will only be good for their bbl.

Bob,
I think the OP was trying to find where his barrel exists in the range of .22-250 barrels and was asking for some comparative data. He thinks it is on the short side. Short-throated barrels can always be extended with a throating reamer. Long-throated barrels must be set back.

That is exactly the info I needed, and you are correct, I am trying to determine my chamber vs. a few others. I really appreciate this site, because with a carefully worded question I can get very useful accurate info. This really helps.
