QUESTION short action caliber built on long action

I have a complete long action rifle with quality stock. What are the disadvantages of building a short action caliber on a long action?
I have been looking but have not found much information on this. I have seen it done.

I have a Remington 700 long action that I had re-barreled to .308 Winchester. I am going to pick up the barreled action today. I think there may be some feeding issues so I am converting the action to single shot. I do not believe there are any other issues. I will let you know after I complete the project if there are any other issues.

Its either the US Army or USMC that uses the L/A for the 308.The use the L/A in case they want to reconfigure to a 300 WinMag.I had a .308Win L/A and it fed fine. It just has a longer stroke of the bolt and the S/A will be a little stiffer.
Just my 2 cents.

I was just gonna chime in with that info. It was the Army M24 that was a long action chambered in .308. I have a lot of time on one, and I can tell you that they were just fine.

The longer bolt throw it the only thing I can think of. I was going to make it a single shot anyways so feeding is not an issue. I am considering making a 22br out of it. It would definetly be a a long action for that little cartridge.

You won't have an issue at all, it's a push feed & they really don't care. I have several short action rounds built on long action controlled feed actions that don't care either. It does allow you to seat bullets out a long ways.
