question on tap and die preference

I have decided Im tired of internal threading 1/2x28 threads for the few jobs i need them. What brand and spec taps do you prefer? Ebay has a regal brand with an h3 designation(+.001-.0015 over basic) would that be fine or should i look more for a closer fit to the spec?
I saw a guy do a ruger 10/22 barrel where he used factory front sight timed up as the thread protector and id like to try it but internal threading to such a tight stop depth scares me. the risk/reward factor is way off! Thanks for any help

I wasn't going to answer but since it's empty I'll state the obvious . You have a lathe and that is the best way . Yes it's time consuming but it is practice . So maybe after a few mistakes , we all make them , it'll be no problem for you to knock a few out .
