Question of balance

Fellas,
MY FTR build has a Anschutz rail installed in the stock and will be used with a Seb Joy Pod.
So what do you prefer for a balance starting point, weight shift to the front or to the rear of rifle.
Never gave this much thought but now I have the ability to shift some of the weight forward or to the rear.

I keep my Joy Pod all the way forward on my .308 F/TR rifle. seems to work very well there.

the chassis fore end is fairly short, and this is with a 28" barrel

The longer the stock or farther front you mount it, will put more weight on the rear bag and help balance the rifle. Matt

Yeah, the farther forward the better. If you mount it by the mag well and little movement on the butt is a lot transferred to the muzzle. Put the pivot point/fulcrum further forward and you will make less of an over all difference in the muzzle.

Just like how rifles are more accurate than pistols. Stretch it out and mitigate small inconsistencies.

Balance does also matter.
You can't just keep adding weight from the barrel without eventually needing compensation for it in the buttstock.
