Question for "wet" case cleaners;ie S S media

For those that use SS media & wet tumble them a few questions ;
1. after cleaning and removing from the tumbler, do you let them air dry or assist the drying in a 220* oven
2. and main question, after they are dry can you store them and they will not discolor OR do you run them through another media like ground walnut or corn cob media to "coat" them media dust to help keep the brass shinny ??

Re: Question for "wet" case cleaners

Oven to speed it up... 120 degrees or so.. i do it low...

I use 50/50 water and simple green inside the tumbler... it doesnt discolor if kept clean.. only rinse and use distilled water... otherwise you will get water spots.

170 is fine too... brass doesnt anneal until way more temp is added... ive done 200... no issues... i just prefer lower temps.. then at that ya gotta roll em around and dry the other side..

I take my cases and admediately dry in oven or with a hair dryer. This prevents water spots. Then store in ziplock bags to prevent discoloration.

After SS tumbling I rinse off the cases in 90% Isopropyl alcohol. Really speeds up the drying process. I then spray lube the cases with One Shot spray case lube and let them dry before sizing them. This will keep the cases from discoloring.

No discolor ingredients from my experience if you rinse the cases off afterwards theoughly. I dry mine in oven on baking sheet at 200F for 20 minutes. Works great for me

I'm anal. I take them out two by two in the rinsing water so that any stainless media runs out, tap the mouth on a towelling pad then roll the lot between layers of towel to dry the outside. Then I leave them mouth down in some old pistol blocks that have the centre open - no discploration there.

I dry in a dehumidifier dedicated for non-food use. At this point the racks are discolored a dark black color. I bought my unit at bed bath and beyond and put a mechanical outlet timer on it. I dry at 165 for 2 hours, although 1 hour will work in a pinch.

I dump out the excess water from each case as I stick them in the dehumid. I also place them neck slanted downwards for drainage. I'm sure they would be fine without any of this but better safe then misfire. Also, if I'm worried about spots I use a paper towel to wipe down the outsides. Normally I do around 100 brass at a time but have done up to 200.

Also, I'm constantly fighting neck tension issues caused by too clean of necks or peening. My current experiment is to step down from 2 tbs to 1 of dish soap and I need to add more media (the baby sitter knocked over my separator and I lost like 1-2lbs). I'm thinking more like 6-8lbs of SS. Additionally I'm going to step down to 1 hours wash vs 2.

I don't need my brass spotless, I can touch up the primer pockets separately. Using a dry neck lube did not solve the issue of neck tension. I feel the tension while seating (my harrels press has a really short throw). Sometimes I even shave off bits of copper jacket material.

I shake in a Frankford Arsenal Standard Media Separator ($9) over a standard plastic bucket to remove the pins, then rinse in cold water and shake in a kitchen colander to remove most water. I form a bath towel into a hammock shape and roll the cases back and forth for 30 seconds. Then I put the nearly dry cases in a mesh sports bag and dry on "cotton high" for 40 minutes in my wife's clothes dryer on the tennis shoe rack.

I just take them out rinse them in water, then blow them out with my air gun with rubber tip. Then put them in my vibrating tumbler with corn cob. That takes care of any moisture left. :-*

I use one teaspoon of Dawn dish soap and one teaspoon of Lemi- Shine and hot tap water ....
they shine better then new.. towel dry and put in a dehydrator over night ..
They shine like a New Nickel.. no water spots ..

I live in Florida, so rock them in a towel, lay them on an outside table for an hour and they are dry. Of course they will change over time.

I tumble with hot water, a squirt of DWL, a pinch of limoshine for 1/2 hr. (No ss pins). Rinse. Shake out excess water and dry in a slow cooker set on low. Works great w/o a lot of hassle

I tumble in a squirt of dawn and pour in some Lemishine. I bump and then shake out any SS media in the cases and final rinse in a bowl of water with a little Lemishine in it. Set them on a baking sheet in the oven at 200* for an hour or so. They stay looking like new. Use the dry graphite on the necks before seating bullets. My bullets are coated with hBN so between the graphite necks and hBN I get very consistent seating.

deprime, Ultrasonic cleaner, tumbler for polish/shine, tap water rinse, alcohol bath, cases stored for future reloading/sizing/etc.

Whenever I am STM cleaning I do a lot of cases so I don't need them asap to load. I tumble in a shot of dish soap, a 44 mag case of Lemishine and cold water. Tried it hot, no difference. When done, I rinse them good and rinse out the tumbler too until everything runs clean. I put the cases in a media separator and spin them as fast as I can. Spin it fast to centrifuge off the water as much as possible. Then turn a few revs slow to let them hit each other and knock more water off. Then, roll them on a dry towel to dry the outside and move them to a dry spot for inside drying over night.
If I get to the point that I need to load asap...I blow them dry with compressed air and a rubber tip blowgun. Never had water spots and some I did over a year ago have laid out in my reloading room and are just starting to barely darken a little. They still look better than new!!!

I do the same except I use less simple green, I use a 1 to 7 mixture and use tap water. All is well.

After SS tumbling, wipe the outsides off and place in old factory cartridge holders from the factory ammo boxes, then blow dry for about 5 mins. Cases get up to about 120 degrees from blow dryer then let them air cool. No problems
