I am working up some loads for 1,000 yards. Testing today at 600 yards using 42.5g Varget and 175SMK gave me a 2 inch group. I do not have access to a chronograph at this time. I am using LC brass trimmed to 2.0 and OAL of 2.800.

I have read that shooters loading 44.5g (or slightly more) of Varget and working well.

What are your experiences (and grains) loads using 175SMK for 1,000 yards?

Would I be good to go using 42.5 or should I continue to slowly increase my loads?

Much Appreciated.

You need to decide what velocity you want your bullets to have at 1000 yards and then work backwards from there to figure out the muzzle velocity that will do that for you. Then use a chrono to measure your loads so you do not have to guess.
