I have a sale pending on a BR rifle with an older Farley action. The prospective buyer made me aware of a recall by Farley about a bolt hardness safety issue they had.
I have tried calling them this morning but no answer yet. I know they are busy and I will continue to get in touch with them. The issues I read about on the internet surfaced in about 2008. Lug cracking or shearing due to the S7 steel being too hard??
I have some photos I just took showing the several hardness penetration test marks from testing I assume at their shop. This action was made in about 1999-2000. I saw the recall notice from them asking that all bolts be sent in for evaluation by them. I plan on doing so when I contact them.
My question to Farley owners is, do these marks look similar to the ones on your bolt? Did you send in your bolt per the recall? Was your bolt declared safe or was it replaced?
Thanks for any comments.
