Question for competition prone shooters

Be glad to. What would you like to know?

Rick

Cool. I have a few questions to start:

Where is the range located?
What type of matches will you have? (Prone/F-Class, Benchrest, Across-the-Course, etc.)
How often will you have matches?
Would you like to avoid match date conflicts with the other local clubs? (I can help)
Will these matches be NRA approved?
Do you need to be a club member or pay a guest fee to shoot a match (on top of the regular match fees)?
Are there any restrictions on which calibers can be used? (such as at AEDC)
How many firing points will you have?
Will you have pits and targets on carriers, or will this be a "walk up" range?
Are you considering electronic targets?
How will you advertise these matches to the large local community of shooters? (I can help)

These are just the first questions I would ask off the top of my head. I look forward to your responses. Thanks!

Good questions, all.

Where is the range located?

5 miles south of Lafayette on Dry Branch Rd, off Hwy 10

What type of matches will you have? (Prone/F-Class, Benchrest, Across-the-Course, etc.)

short range benchrest UBR score
Prone/military
rimfire
IDPA
Possibly others, but I am only match director for benchrest. It's possible the prone/military director may have others in mind. Also, it is possible someone else will want to take responsibility for some type of F Class

How often will you have matches?

Most recurring matches will be held monthly from March thru October

Would you like to avoid match date conflicts with the other local clubs? (I can help)

Of course, where that is possible

Will these matches be NRA approved?

Again, I am not involved in the type of matches the NRA would approve. You would need to contact the match director for that. I can get you his contact info.

Do you need to be a club member or pay a guest fee to shoot a match (on top of the regular match fees)?

Club membership is not required to shoot in any of our matches.

Are there any restrictions on which calibers can be used? (such as at AEDC)
no 50 BMG

How many firing points will you have?

28 concrete benches on the competition side of the range with prone positions in front
our competition range will only go to 300 yards and will not have pits or targets on carriers.

Will you have pits and targets on carriers, or will this be a "walk up" range?

walk up or use an ATV on the access road beside the range

Are you considering electronic targets?

at this time I am not aware of any plans for electronic targets. I know we won't be using them for benchrest

How will you advertise these matches to the large local community of shooters? (I can help)

I keep the benchrest community informed of the benchrest schedule and results. I am not aware of what the other disciplines do. I'm sure they would appreciate help in spreading the info.

These are just the first questions I would ask off the top of my head. I look forward to your responses. Thanks!

Are you aware of the match competition being held at Strategic Edge as well as what is being planned for Dead Zero near Sparta?

Will be happy to answer any other questions you come up with. Currently we are being help up due to the excessive rain we've had through the past summer and fall. The range shed is build and the concrete will be poured this week. Benches will be added shortly there after. We need dry conditions for top soil/seed/straw to be spread on the range from 100-300 yards. Berms are constructed. We will be starting on the pistol bay construction this week as this does not require dry conditions.

Thanks for your interest and questions.
