Question: Cleaning 6br chamber

I've searched a couple different ways here and elsewhere and what I'm finding pertains to the AR and the like.

I did buy a chamber mop for an ar and cut the nylon disk off the back of it BUT sticking out the front is still this monster steel spine. It's big and I'm afraid to get that anywhere near the neck or throat area.

So how do you go about cleaning the chamber and lug locking surfaces? I have a chamber rod. That AR mop scares me.

Thanks for the help,
Jeff

go to sinclair international. they have a bunch of dedicated ar-15 cleaning products. all of them are great products and would recommend to any ar-15 owner

Thanks Cole,

I should have been more clear - my mistake. I'm not cleaning an AR. I want something better to clean my 6BR. I got the AR mop I have now from sinclair. That steel loop on the front of the mop looks like it would do nasty things to my nice new chamber.

Take care,
Jeff

I use a big fat mop for either a .45 caliber pistol or a shotgun mop. Can't remember which I ordered now since it has been a while. I attach it to an old pistol rod I have and carefully rotate it around the chamber. They work great, and I would advise you order the wool version rather than cotton. I wash them out with Dawn soap and hot water, and use them over and over again.

Sinclair also has a special tool to clean the lug area. If you don't have a Sinclair catalog yet, order one, they are free. Gun porn. Glossy pages of all the stuff you could want. Thumb though that sucker for a while and whatever money you have left will quickly be gone.
