Question About Savage 10 FCP HS Precision Barrel?

walker2713

My Boy Hap....
It's a .308 and comes with a muzzle brake.

I assume that the barrel is threaded and I could use my suppressor on it. However, the Savage product description doesn't mention that feature. I don't want to assume too much.

Anyone know for certain?

Thanks,

George

just checked the Savage wedsite , doesn't say, unless your looking at it assume it don't,,call Savage,,

Savage usually adds an "SR" to the model when they come with a threaded barrel, i.e model 10 fcp-sr.
The thread on the only factory savage barrel I've seen with a break is 9/16-28.
On a magnum contour I think.

They may have other threads on heavy contours

Was that one of their proprietary on/off brakes? Because I've had multiple guns that came with a fairly standard 5/8-24 tpi thread...

The original HS models were not threaded but the website now demonstrates that they are. All factory threaded .308win savages I’ve had were threaded 5/8x24 which is the ‘standard’. I caution you though to check concentricity with a range rod as I found out the hard way with end cap strikes that the threading was not concentric on one barrel I used.

Yes it’s threaded and the factory brake uses a crush washer 5/8x24 I believe
