Question about new Lapua brass 6br

Being a new 6br shooter, should I run my new brass thru
the sized die befor the first loading? Thanks

Plus any load ideas using 68 FB berger-or 107 SMK

The 6mmBR cartridge guide recomends openening up the necks with a 6mm button. They will still be a bit tight. Plenty of load ideas in the guide as well.

I would just to straighten out the necks but I don't bump them back. What die to you have?

I have found all of my Lapua brass to be straight right out of the box, so I would never expand the brass period. Just load it and shoot it, neck tension is going to be to much but that is fixed after you shoot them once. The expander button rides on the case neck walls anyway they aren't going to be any starighter just bigger. if some some reason the are not straight they will be after you smack them with 50,000 lbs of pressure during fire forming.

Redding makes a long tapered sizing button, it fits on the decapping rod of their "S" type dies. Can be usefull to have around for new brass or if you ding a neck. Bought mine at Sinclair. They are available in several different calibers.

Redding also makes floating carbide expander buttons. If you must use an expander I believe this is the least likely to pull the case necks out of alignment. The tapered are also good, but I still prefer the floating.

Just to clarify the situation. I use the tapered expander on NEW brass only, one time. I am very happy with the results from my "S" dies with no expander for routine loading.

I ran a few through these Hornady dies,,I put some lee case lube inside the necks with a q tip..They seemed to slip right in and out of the die with ease...First Hornady dies I have ever owned..I think I will like these...
