Question about new Bbl. break-in, Moly & HbN

I have a new 6 BR Bbl. in hand and a 22 BR Bbl. that might arrive by Christmas, although it was promised delivery by Mid. Oct.
Anyway, the manufacturer recommends break in by shoot and clean 20 times as a break in.
My questions are;
Could the break in be cut in half by using Iosso or JB bore cleaner, or a chrome polish to scrub / lap the bore before the shoot & clean process.
I am thinking about using "Moly" or HbN coated bullets {retired and to much time on my hands} So should I start the shoot & clean process by first coating the bore and using coated bullets for the break in process
OR , with 90 % of my shooting limited to 300 yds should I just stick to the basic use of non coated bullets

The bore is already lapped by the maker. Don't screw-up a good thing.

Agree with JRS , don't mess up the bore . Also when I had too much time , I would volunteer at the local animal shelter . It is unforgettable .

The only thing you should be putting in your bore during break in is Daag 156 Colloidal Graphite after each cleaning. This fills the microstructure with graphite instead of copper and carbon. Here is the instructions that Greg Tannel sends with all of his rifle builds.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE USE OF DAAG 156
COLLOIDAL GRAPHITE

STEP 1: Use Daag156 to break in the barrel. Do not fire a round through the barrel until these steps 2-7 have been done. You are filling the microstructure with graphite instead of carbon & copper. It will help prevent carbon and copper from sticking to the inside of the barrel.

1) It is best to use DAAG156 in unfired barrels, after the barrel has been installed on actions.

2) Thoroughly degrease barrel with a solvent such as brake cleaner, followed by running two wet patches of acetone or lacquer thinner through the barrel.

3) Allow the bore to dry after swabbing with two dry patches. About 1 min.

4) Insert a dry patch on the cleaning rod and run it through the bore to protrude halfway out the muzzle. Saturate the patch with DAAG 156 colloidal graphite and slowly draw back through the barrel to the throat. Push the patch forward to protrude halfway out the barrel again and re-saturate the patch the second time and pull back to the throat, then run the patch down the barrel a final time and let drop into a waste container.

5) Let the barrel set for at least 15 minutes to allow complete evaporation of the alcohol. If you have compressed air, you can softly blow down barrel, this will speed up the dry time.

6) Now you are ready to shoot the first round through your new barrel.

7) After firing, clean the barrel in your normal manner. Do not use harsh bore cleaners. You can use "Shooter's Choice", "Butch's Bore Shine" or ?Bore Tech Eliminator?. You must remove all the copper left by the first shot.

8) After all the copper of the first shot is removed, repeat steps 2-7. Fire the second round. Keep repeating steps 2-7 for at least 10 rounds. 20 rounds are preferred.

Make sure your barrel is clean from man. or smith and shoot...Moly takes a few rounds to settle
down in my barrels...3 to 20 shots, then shoot to your hearts content or till barrel tells you otherwise.
YMMV

^^^ THIS!

CG claims to be 100x finer than lock-ease. I've been using it for years. It allows you to do what you bought the barrel for in the first place much sooner.... Shoot it!
thanks,

lloyd, where did you find your CG ??

Per German Salazar clean, dry with a patch or 2. Shoot a match. I pulled more than a few 200 with big x counts on a brand new barrel.
