question about inprogress chamber

I am in the process of cutting a 338 edge chamber and am in about 1/2".I have dialed in the barrel thrue headstock to as close to .0001 as i can ,dial just slight flutters on the mark.I am using a floating reamer pusher, only taking .025 of a cut at a time cleaning everything before starting again.I'm doing everything i have done in the past witch has brought excellent results.
I am turning at 65 rpm brand new finish reamer.
My issue is i have a line(ridge or high spot) i can see with a magnifieng glass that runs from breech opening to shoulder junction.I can also feel with toothpick.
Does anyone know what could have caused this?

If it's a straight line from front to back in the chamber, you're probably doing that when you pull the reamer out of the chamber by sliding the tailstock back. Try unscrewing several revolutions and then pull the tailstock back to clear the reamer.

Wrap your reamer with a light cotton patch for the next couple of cuts.

You have my attention
Do you mean a bore patch?
and do you wrap the entire reamer or just the body?

Thanks for all your input I ended up turning up the rpm to 190 and the line went away chamber turned out very nice.Still not sure what caused the reamer to do that.
Thanks again.
