Question about .300 win mag powder loads

Sorry if something similar to this has been asked.

I'm loading .300 win mag rounds. 147 gr fmj boat rails, magnum primers and H1000 powder. I'm trying to load 82gr of power, but my measure is off about +/- half a grain. For just target practice purposes is this variation going to cause any significant change in impact out to 300m? For anything competitive I would pull out the powder trickler and get exact loads, but I'm wondering if this is worth my time for just practice ammo.

Rifle is Remington 700 with a 26" 5r varmint barrel.

" Train as you fight". Even for practice, load as if it were a match. If your practicing proper trigger pull, position behind the gun and reading conditions and your ammo is not consistent, how will you properly evaluate you performance. Your also practicing good consistent loading disciplines.

+/-Half a grain/a full grain one extreme is too much. I'd tighten up my powder charges. I think you're biggest effect on accuracy is going ot be with the FMJ 147g bullets. Might want to try a match projectile

You don’t mention what measure you have, but most will measure to within +/- 1% of what you desire once you ‘learn’ the technique of what your measure likes. I use 3, a Redding 3BR, RCBS Uni Flow and an unkown year of manufacture Harrel.
The Redding likes the handle tapped at the bottom only and the baffle a 1/4 way up from the bottom.
The RCBS likes a tap top and bottom and the baffle right on the bottom.
The Harrel just works as is, it is so accurate I rarely need to check what it throws.

Cheers.

Not exactly related , but why would you want to use a SLOW powder like H1000 with a light for caliber bullet like a 147. ? It'd be kinder to your wallet and the barrel throat to use less of a faster burning powder.?

I agree with the idea of practicing with the load you compete with in order to accumulate the experience and knowledge of the competition load.

I would also suggest finding and buying a new powder measure or change your loading routine to maximize the accuracy potential.

Please accept this as my opinion only, not a criticism or your choices.:) I believe that H-1000 is way too slow to be a proper load for your cartridge/bullet combination. I understand the desire of wanting to burn a cool powder but there are others better suited which will burn cool also. Re-23 and VVN-165 will fill the case and provide a cool burning load with lots of potential for accuracy loads.

I'd use Hodgdon Hybrid-100V powder for more consistent throws. And 100V is a better choice for those lighter 147 grainers.

H-100V is a cooler burning powder, thus theoretically should increase the life of the barrel.
