One comment about Nightforce, They still work on repairs/warranty work too. I've seen several precision tactical rifles fall, or get dropped, scopes sent to Nightforce, and fixed (usually for a fee as it was user error). Leupold is usually just replace the scope.

Will you be ringing steel, shooting sage rats or punching paper with the 22-250 and 243? If those two rifles are just used for steel, the Leupy MK4 scopes will work great. If you're goal is tight groups on paper or small criters you will likely want more magnification than the MK4 has.

For the 338 at longer distance you will likely want more magnification as well. I own both Leupold and NF scopes and both are very good scopes. I use the Mk4s at work and we have them mounted on various rifles (M-24 to M-107). They hold up just fine and if they let you down, Leupold has a great warranty. That being said, the last two scopes I bought were NF.

Good luck with your selection.

I just recently picked up a Bushnell 4.5-30x50mm Elite Tactical scope. Very nice for the money. Glass is nice and clear and plenty of adjustment for 1k shooting. Also unexpectedly compact in size for the range of magnification.

Chose it because there isn't much a person can't do with that magnification range.

Brandon,
What does the Bushnell weigh?
Wayne

According to my new MyWeigh U2 60lb postal scale, the bare scope alone weighs exactly 24.2 oz and the sunshade weighs 3.7 oz.

Thank you Brandon, I need to find a new scope for my 11lb rifle, I have a straight 36 now and it's too much on the hot day's but I think that will be to heavy.

I have the same scope, but its the 6-24x50 elite tactical. Its clearer than my VX3 and tracks perfect. Pretty good scope for the money!

Well I suppose I should give you the whole skinny on it then :)

Can't remember exactly, but I counted something like 78 MOA of adjustment in it from cranking the elevation all the way down to all the way up. Very impressive amount of adjustment for a scope of that power range. Doesn't feel like a mark4 or Nightforce, but clicks are nice and solid with no slop at all.

It is 1/4 MOA adjustments though. Not sure if that matters to you or not, I just know most fellas like that 1/8 moa adjustment. Reticle options are limited to mil dot and duplex. Although the mildot is a little thinner than most I've seen. And although eye relief is excellent on all powers, the eyebox definitely has a shorter window for viewing on 30X
However, I like the reticle a lot and I like 1/4 moa adjustments because it is going to be my new main hunting scope on my 338-375 Ruger when its done.

Its no Nightforce, but its a really solid scope with great glass for the money.
I got mine on ebay about a month ago for $734 with free shipping. That's the best price around by far. Seen some places asking almost $1100 for them.

Here is a review on the bushnell elite tactical scope.

I'm pleased with my Sightron S3 8-32x56, it's reliably repeatable, 1/8 clicks and reasonable glass - I feel it was good value with fair performance at a reasonable cost.
Here's a snap through the lens shot with my phone camera. Target 100yds, scope at about 20x.

Brandon,
There is one for sale on this forum right now for $650
Wayne.

That's a good deal if it's in new shape because the lifetime warranty applies to any owner of the scope. No need for a sales receipt or warranty card.

Try to find a match or two in your area and look to see what is being used on the line. During downtime, talk with the owners of the various scopes you see and ask them the pros and cons and more importantly, ask if you can look through them.

Pick your tools to match the game you want to play, a March 10-60 will not give you any advantage at a Sniper Match, a Tactical scope such as a S&B USO NSX will not help you at all in 100 yard Benchrest, what glass is the best or best for the money is so subjective that there is no right answer.

Well stated Brian.

I have always been a leupold man and will always have them on my hunting guns they're great scopes but they or any other scope that I have ever looked through doesn't come close to a March.
