Push feed Winchester 70

Have a Winchester model 70 in 22-250, upon ejecting an empty, all it does is drop the empty case above the magazine follower.
Have taken out, examined, cleaned both the extractor (sliding plate) and ejector. Looked to buy a new sliding plate, spring and button, but not available any where. Someone here able to help me out?

Sounds to me like you have an ejector problem. The extractor is apparently hanging on to the case until the bolt is withdrawn, but it's not being ejected. I would remove the ejector, check for broken parts, then clean it, the spring and ejector hole (brakeclean and a correctly sized drill bit, rotated with your fingers) up really well. If that is not the problem you might try removing the extractor and smoothing all of the sliding surfaces with a very fine stone.

Just checked on ebay. Not sure on the detent & spring, but the seller might have them also. They're not mine.
been in contact with e-bayv guy,

Been in contact with the e-bay guy, he also has the detent, spring not a problem.

9 times out of ten the problem you desribe is a worn extractor, on Savages and Win push feeds, and to some extent Rem 722-700's. It lets go of the case too early in the cycle and the ejector has nothing to kick against. Jack First has the parts too.

Jack First has the extractor, I don't know if I need the detent, but they are out of that. The ebay guy has both, for about the same price. Thank you for the heads up, I'll keep them in mind, if I see this problem in the future.

Can you actually inspect the sliding plate/detent/spring, to determine if it is worn, or needs replacement?

New extractor, detent, spring, fixed the problem. Thanks to all.

As an aside, I have had trouble with Winchester 22-250 brass in the past. The head measures about .005" smaller diameter than other manufacturers. My work around was to buy different brass with the larger head.
