Punctured primers with Savage 6BR's

A friend and I recently piurchased two Savage high end 6Br rifles and are experiencing blown primers. I sent the primers back to remington for them to check and they responded with no problem found. My friend sent his back and after receiving it from Savage, it is still puncturing primers with factory and reloaded ammo.

When you call savage the first question is about the ammo. Factory or reloaded.. Which I understand given all the variables. But they do not seem to want to do anything about it if you are reloading the ammo for it and with 6BR I would say most is reloaded ammo.

I find it very disappointing that when you buy a product of there they don't want to wrk with you to resolve the problem. I have tried different powder, primers, oal and full sized and neck sized with the se results.

Two years ago I purchased a Savage 12 fcv in 223 that shot over 8 feet to the left. Changed scopes and no change. When I called they again tried to tell me it was something I was doing, well I sent it back and after they replaced the barrel and other items it shot well.
Not many choices for a 6br factory rifle but very disappointed in the Savage and there response.

"Blown Primers" is kind of a catch all phrase. Do you mean a metal disk is being punched out and there is a hole in the primer (which some refer to as "Punched" or "Blanked")...

... or do you mean that the primer pockets have expanded so the primers fall out, which is common usage??

Could you tell us what loads and bullets and brass you are using. Did the blown or leaking primers start from the very time your first fired it or was it over some time it happened. Did you check to see how far you are into the rifling? I recently read an article complaining of the same issue and with factory loads they discovered they were(the bullets) into the rifling quite a bit and ended up just getting them throated. Savage should change out the barrels in question if this turns out that the freebore is almost non existent. Get a chamber cast done or do it yourself to find out what is really going on.

I agree with both previous posts , what exactly is happening , what primers , load , length and bullet , and case , 6 BR or 6 BR Norma ? How did you work up loads , how long have you been reloading , not to be jerk but it matters , . It will help With more info .

I live in west Palm beach , Fl . If you want to take a ride ,I will borescope and check your chamber . Its free . I'm curious also , maybe with some chamber and barrel pics ,Savage will do something .

Don't discount a dished bolt face. Yes, from the factory. Have one if you need to see it. Most primers did not pierce, but there was a notable extrusion of the cup.

The primer has a hole in it and the gas comes back into the bolt. A small memetal disk in in the actio.
Just purchased the rifle and it had les than 75 rounds through it.

Primers that failed were Remington Br 7.5, cci 400. Cci450, wolf.
Powders used were h4895 and benchmark all less than max and all 5 to 20 thousands from the lands. Using Hornady 105 with Lapua brass.

Been reloading for many years but this is my first experience with the 6BR Norma
Thanks for your responses.

If there are no other signs of pressure, then it would probably be a light firing pin spring, not able to hold the pressure.

+1 on this
I built a 6mm Dasher on a standard Savage short action, second case in fire forming, cut a primer with the loose disc jamming up action, replaced spring with a heavy version, not one problem in 700 rounds.
Also reccomend getting a PTG Bolt head, for what they cost more then worth the money- factory Savage bolt head is rubbish
