First I'm not a Gunsmith or machinest.
I bought a package deal from a Gentleman,,, A Rifle Action and reamer.
The reamer is a PTG 22/250 Finish Match 3/07.
.2535nk.
.051 FB.
Now Explain,,,,,
First,,,,Is this a no turn Neck?
and second ,,, what bullets suit a .051 FB ,,,40-50gr or 55 grs and heavier?
and third ,,, what does the "match" mean?
i'm thinking a 8-twist Kreiger Barrel Build,,will this reamer suit this need???
thanks in advance for info....

Since thats a PTG Reamer, call Dave Kiff at PTG. His number is 1-541-826-5808. He's a busy man and you might have to leave a message, but he'll call you back. Super good guy and knows everything you can do with that reamer or they might even be able to modify it for you to meet your needs.

Shynloco is right, you should call Dave and check.

However, it would seem to me it is a no-turn neck. Measure a loaded 22-250 round at several places on the neck and compare with the .2535 reamer. .224 + .014(?) + .014(?) = .252

The designation "Match" to my understanding means it is cut to minimum SAAMI standards.

My thoughts on the free bore would only be slightly better than a guess.

To me, two out of the three look good for a custom 22-250.

I agree that the .2535 neck is just right for unturned Lapua brass. I had a Shilen select match barrel with a .254 neck in 8 twist that shot 80 gr SMK's to .25 MOA. I can't speak to the freebore however.

Just for info, my 30" Shilen with Lapua brass, BR2 primers and 36.5 gr RL15 was running about 3200 fps at 4500 feet elevation. The operative word is "was". At 1200 rounds it was toast!! I can't speak to the Krieger barrel but fast twist 22-250's seem to have a life expectancy about equal to a 6.5-284, which isn't long!

Maxcsm,

IF you have the brass and bullets you intend to shoot load a DUMMY round and measure the neck diameter...

It will be the bullet diameter+the neck thickness+the neck thickness=loaded round neck dimension. EX. .243+.012+.012=.248

Then add .002 for clearance and it will give you your answer....IF your loaded dummy round is .2515 or less you will be good.

AS to the freebore of .051 i can tell you that i have a reamer for 2 different .22 wildcat rounds and they are .040 and .060 they love the 50-55gr. bullets(.040) and the 65gr. bullets(.060) respectively.

Give Dave a call too, he is very helpful.

Phil.
