PTG bolt versus factory Remington bolt

i just wonder if there is much difference in the firing pin assembly on a PTG replacement 700 bolt compared to a remington factory firing pin assembly? In other words will a factory assembly work fine in a PTG bolt?
I realize the ptg bolt may be oversize to allow it to be fit. Thanks

UPDATE—- I checked the two PTG bolts for this project. The hole for the firing pin in the bolt, I can just get a .078 gage pin in, so i figured these bolts were made for the standard pin size. i took a firing pin assembly from a R700 I have and tried it in these bolts. The pin in it is about .075 dia. It seems to work ok. thanks to all who helped me.

I bought a Model Seven bolt from PTG and, by the time I got it in a useable condition, I've got about $450 in it. And it is still has no finish or a knob on it.
yeah all those parts sure add up i know. Im about to find out all about it.

Yes they will work... Just order the correct(Standard) firing pin hole..
You will like the timing of the bolt much better than the factory.. I have 3 or 4 PTG one piece bolts

i have a couple that came stripped in 700 barreled actions from PTG. Thanks

The last few I had in for fluting looked odd at first glance. Upon inspection the bolt face and bolt body
where not even close to being concentric. Just when I thought they(PTG) could not mess anything else up, they up their game! Just something else to be aware of when you receive a bolt from PTG.

Unless things have changed (PTG is always subject to change) a factory pin will not work in all of the PTG bolts. If you buy a PTG bolt with the .062” Bench Rest Diameter you will need to modify your factory pin or buy a PTG benchrest pin. The difference is not just in the pin diameter, the pin tip is longer. Basically PTG copied the Gre-Tan pin and bushing bolt modification.E62DB73E-5544-41FC-A8AF-3FC4212E2435.jpeg

Yes the firing pin tip stays in its hole instead of hitting it and hoping it doesnt snag and drag. Should be a mod on any action (if it doesnt have it)

If you buy a PTG bolt, I would get one from someone like Carlsbad. He makes sure everything is as it should be.
Thanks - that sounds like a good idea - in this case though the stripped bolts came in barreled actions so i need to complete them.

i updated my original post. today checked the firing pin hole dia in the ptg bolts.. i could get a .078 gage pin in them so i tried a factory firing pin assembly with a .075 dia pin in it, in the bolts. it seemed to work allright when i tried the bolts in the actions. thanks for the help

I have built (4) Rem700s with original bolt and (5) Rem700s with PTG bolt.

I only had firing pin trouble with one stock Rem bolt, a 6mmBR single shot that pierces CCI450 primers and jammed the firing pin. I was antelope hunting based in the basement of log cabin where I disassembled the bolt and cleaned out a dozen primer divots.

I dont think Ive ever had a pierced primer. (knock on wood). I should check in all my bolts.
Thanks for that info.
