Proshot Bore Guide

Anyone use a Proshot bore guide BG22-30? I was considering one for a factory Remington 700 in 308. My concern is that the cone tips will not reach the shoulder so a wet patch will allow solvent into the chamber and there will be approximately a 1½" jump from the end of the tip to the bore.

Is this a concern or do users of this bore guide find that they work well. I have two Lucas gudes for other rifles and I need one for this new Remington, but the Proshot guides are available at my local store.

Thanks for your response. :)

It would seem that drying the chamber (which you should do at the end of every cleaning) would make this a non issue.

I agree with Boyd.

In fact, I clean my chamber with a 3"X3" patch soaked with Lighter Fluid [it evaporates quickly] before I insert a bore guide, and the second time, after I've completed cleaning the barrel and removed the bore guide.

Why not just go with another Lucas for the Remington?

I had one similar to that. Hated it. The plastic tip would often stick in the chamber and come off when I removed the bore guide. Had to use forecepts to remove the tip each time. Always ended up with solvent in the chamber and on occasion it would leak into the magazine.

I switched to the Sinclair bore guides for my factory rifles and use a Lucas on my custom rifle. Since you have a Lucas, I'm surprised you are even considering the other ones.
