Promised Pics of my newest build, Coyote, P-dog, Deer, Antelope rifle :D

Well for those of you who wanted to see it, here are some pics of a Remington 700 with the barrel nut conversion (courtesy of Jim Briggs, Northland Supply) and a 26" McGowen Barrel, chambered in 22 Cheetah with a 1/7 twist for 80 and 90gr bullets, which I plan to launch at 3200 or so fps hehe. That's a Leupold VXII for those who are wondering (hunting rifle, remember?) Haven't got to pull the trigger yet but I will post results when i do.

I know that system has been around for a while, but I have never really seen reports on how these remmy barrel nuts do. Did you have any action work done, lugs lapped, face squared, etc? Very interested in your results. :)

Took it out yesterday for the first true load tests (first load i've put through it with fireformed cases) best group pushed 3575 with 80gr Amax's (bolt was just starting to get a little sticky, no flattened primers or other signs of excessive pressure) put 4 rounds into a .580" group (I shanked the fifth somehow ). Looks promising as this was just my first trial run to see what powder charges I should play with. I think I'll find a sweet spot somewhere around 3550. More tinkering with load should shrink groups even further, as will glass bedding the action which will be done this week. Only work I've done to this rifle so far is lapped the lugs, and dropped a Timney trigger in, adjusted to a pound and a half. Looks promising. I see no drop in accuracy with the barrel nut system. I'd say for a group shot in a pretty stiff breeze off of a sand bag and Bi-pods that it looks pretty good. I plan to load some 90gr Berger VLDs this week once the stock has been bedded and cured. I'll post some pics of groups as well if I get a chance.
